Automatic Tool Alignment

Systems with a camera receiver enable automatic tool alignment, removing the need for precise manual adjustment. This process can also be fully automated in the CNC using SmartLink, eliminating the need for the operator to press the TOOL ALIGN button.

The iMeasure Laser angle measurement system, powered by Data-M Engineering, ensures precise bend angles in a single operation. These fully automatic, laser-assisted systems for CNC press brakes deliver unparalleled accuracy, measuring bend angles to within 0.1°, regardless of material properties or thickness. This level of precision is unmatched in the industry.
The bending angle is determined by scanning the laser beam's projection on the sheet metal surface with a CMOS camera. The angle between the laser and the camera's viewing axis allows for distance measurement. From these distances, the angle between the sensor and the sheet metal is calculated. A second sensor on the opposite side enables the bending angle to be calculated.

The LaserCheck sensor is securely mounted on the press brake, positioned below the die at an angle of 35°–55° to the vertical. The working distance between the sensor and the sheet ranges from 80mm to 300mm, depending on the sensor type. It can be moved along the die either manually or automatically. Its mounting position allows a measuring range of 30° to 180° bending angle. Two sensors are required for each measuring position, and four sensors enable independent beam correction to compensate for angle differences in long bends.

Working principle, Calibration & Accuracy
The sensor accuracy exceeds ±0.1°. Bending accuracy depends on control, machine accuracy, tools, and material. Calibrating the sensors after mounting reduces mounting errors and enhances bending accuracy.

The Anti-Twist system effectively prevents cutting sheet material from twisting in narrow and strip cuttings by maintaining straight alignment during the cutting process, counteracting blade movements. The AIERMA CNC guillotine shears version enhances force distribution, significantly reducing the risk of surface damage to thin metal sheets and preserving delicate finishes like polished stainless steel or pre-painted plates.

Hydraulic press brakes equipped with a sheet support follower system are designed for bending long, heavy or thin sheets. This system includes a pair of sheet supports positioned at the front of the machine, aligned with the bending line (bottom tool). These supports, controlled by the CNC, ensure precise following and support during the bending process.
